Job Description:
PRIMARY PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Service Delivery
- Coordinates/conducts training sessions for parents and professionals including but not limited to workshops on effective instructional strategies, behavior management, technology resources, applications, IDEA and IEPs
- Researches and disseminates relevant information concerning Exceptional Student Education to parents, agencies, school personnel and administrators in the districts
- Provides support and assistance to parents and students with disabilities
- Provides assistance to professionals in the area of parent involvement
- Maintains effective communication and coordination among students, districts and agency personnel including contacts at DOE to coordinate and promote parent services for families of students with disabilities
- Contributes to quarterly FDLRS newsletter as well as the FDLRS website under Parent Services
- Other duties as assigned by the Project Administrator
Inter/Intra-Agency Communication and Delivery
8. Works cooperatively with parents of exceptional students, school personnel and
community/agency personnel
9. Serves as a liaison between districts and exceptional parents and parent groups
Professional Growth and Improvement
10. Develops and conducts multi-media school based, district wide and State in-service training workshops and follow up related to parent service activities
11. Coordinates, plans, presents and attends local and state conferences related to Exceptional Student Education and Parent Services
12. Surveys needs of parents and administrators, teachers, support personnel and agencies working with parents of student with exceptionalities to identify, schedule, plan, conduct or facilitate workshops and in-service programs
Systemic Functions
13. Disseminates appropriate information to exceptional parents and professionals
14. Strengthens the parent/professional partnership in districts
15. Adequately plans all program and organizational functions within reasonable timeframes
Leadership and Strategic Orientation
16. Plans, implements, and analyzes the development of FDLRS/Parent Services activities through the collaboration with FDLRS Program Administrator, Coordinating Council, district parent liaisons and other development, planning and advisory committees at local and state levels
17. Assists the FDLRS Program Administrator and FDLRS Heartland in accomplishing grant goals
18. Demonstrates initiative in the performance of assigned responsibilities
19. Anticipates potential problems and develop process or procedures to prevent or address them
20. Performs other tasks consistent with the goals and objectives of this position
