The Training Division is a multidisciplinary unit comprised of Law Enforcement, Corrections, and Civilian personnel. The Training Division is responsible for the coordination, development, and presentation of all training programs. The training staff is also responsible for maintaining class registrations and training records for the entire agency. Management and staffing of the Armory, Driving facility, Firearms facility, and all Fitness facilities throughout the agency also fall under the purview of the Training Division.
Develops, coordinates and writes SCORM 1.2 compliant instructional e-learning material. Creates educational content using e-learning software including audio software for narration. Collaborates with Subject Matter Experts in order to obtain information specific to the course objectives and contents. Uses Captivate and other current software programs in the development on online learning content. Applies the concept of storyboarding as it relates to the creation of online learning. Researches, develops and updates online training courses as information requirements change. Evaluates and confirms learning objectives through ongoing needs assessment. Analyzes online training usage through use of the online learning management system in order to define necessary changes to course content and testing. Assists with design of reports that allow for analysis of all training offered to employees of the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office. Maintains an awareness of new products, trends, and advances in the profession; reads professional literature; attends workshop, conferences and training sessions as appropriate. Provides input regarding online training usage and requests from other units for development and budget preparation to define annual expenses. Collaboratively plans and delivers professional development activities in the area of online learning using proven methods in design and deployment. Manages the online learning management system to include conducting all required testing of patches. Assists users with problem solving of online learning management system issues. Publishes content to the online learning management system as well as assign and unassign users for content access. Performs other related duties as required.
Job Requirements:
Associates Degree in Education, Information Technology or closely related field and e-learning certification or Bachelors Degree in Education, Information Technology or closely related field; supplemented by two (2) to four (4) years experience involving ILT involving public speaking with emphasis on computer technology, computer software, or related field; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for this job.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must possess Microsoft Certified Application Specialist (MCAS) certification. Must possess, or be able to obtain and maintain, a valid Florida driver's license.
PREFERENCES: Experience using Audio software for narration, Audacity preferred. Experience using Adobe Captivate.
