Virtual Academy Assistant Principal Job description:
 
Summary of Duties:
 
Supervise activities of remotely located faculty in guiding student mastery of assigned subject areas with a focus on enhancing student performance. Ensure that faculty engages in instructional practices that support student achievement, encourage student motivation, and promote student retention in a virtual school environment. Demonstrate high level of operational competency in use of technology tools such as internet, telephone, email, messaging, Web 2.0, etc. as employed for leading and supporting student learning. Proactively monitor teacher-student communications to ensure adequate student progress relative to their individual course schedule. Provide ongoing direct monitoring and supervision of all teacher-student communication mediums (internet, telephone, email, messaging, Web 2.0, etc) to ensure that students are adequately supported in their learning and school coordinators and/or parents/guardians are kept informed of each students progress. Daily review teacher effectiveness at delivery of timely and constructive feedback for manually graded assignments and assessments. Daily review teacher effectiveness at delivery of timely responses to student, school coordinator, parent, and guardian inquiries, questions, and requests for help. Provide individual training, coaching, mentoring, counseling, and periodic evaluation of faculty performance in key results areas. Coordinate collaboration among faculty and staff and/or course writers on an as-needed basis in order to enhance the curriculum. Periodically review faculty records for accuracy and completeness towards satisfaction of policy, state regulations, and accrediting body standards. Interpret, apply, and enforce Academy policies for remote faculty and students. Participate in and contribute to the growth of Academy programs. Perform other related duties as assigned.
 
Compensation:
Full Time Salaried $35,000 – $45,000 /year (12 months) depending on experience and education for a minimum of 40 hours/week.

Job Requirements:
Experience, Education, and other Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree minimum in Secondary Education or Educational Administration
Active State Teaching or Administrators Certification
Minimum 3-5 years teaching experience in addition to 2-5 years instructional supervision experience as an lead teacher, Assistant Principal, Principal, or related senior administrator in a private or public school for a total of 5 -10 years relevant educational experience.
Experience working with/for distance education providers and educational technology preferred
Experience teaching in public or private school setting preferred
Successful completion of background checks

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Excellent knowledge of motivational techniques
Excellent organizational, problem solving, decision-making, and interpersonal skills
Excellent attention to detail
Strong knowledge of educational websites, educational technology, and Web 2.0
Strong knowledge of instructional methodology
Ability to anticipate potential problems in planning and implementing programs
Ability to be flexible and adaptable in various work conditions
