Assistant Director (Instructional Technologist), Department of Online Learning


Located in the New York City metropolitan area, New Jersey City University is recognized for its urban mission as well as its model undergraduate curriculum that combines cooperative education with a firm foundation in liberal arts. A culturally diverse institution serving 10,000 undergraduate and graduate students, NJCU offers more than thirty undergraduate degree programs, as well as graduate and teacher certification programs. We are currently accepting applications for the positions listed below. All positions are contingent upon receipt of State funding.

New Jersey City University invites applications for the position of Assistant Director (Instructional Technologist) in the Department of Online Learning.  The Assistant Director of Online Learning is responsible for training and supporting faculty and students in the use of the Blackboard CE learning management system and related technologies pertinent to the delivery of online, blended, and web-enhanced courses.  This individual also provides administrative support for the University’s learning management system and other software applications and systems used for web-based learning.

Anticipated start date:  As soon as possible

 

Job Requirements:

Qualifications:

 

Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Three years experience in higher education related to the requirements of the position
  • Excellent oral and written communication and group presentation skills

 

Preferred

  • Master’s Degree
  • Experience using and supporting the Blackboard CE LMS
  • Experience in supporting faculty in online course development and design
  • Experience in planning and delivering group training sessions
  • Experience supporting students in using a learning management system
  • Experience with applications designed to support web-based learning, particularly Respondus, Turnitin, and the Wimba Classroom
  • Knowledge of best practices in online pedagogy and emerging technology trends
