This workshop was designed for principals or other instructional leaders at the elementary level to assist in connecting reading research, teacher practice, and student achievement.Implementing Reading Walk-Throughs during reading instruction can create strong academic climates and prepare students for the academic challenges. This workshop is intended to increase the frequency of classroom visits by administrators, intensify data gathering to drive school improvement decisions, and improve reading practices through explicit coaching. It encourages administrators to establish their presence in every classroom in order to promote research-based reading instruction. The presentation includes video clips of classroom reading instruction to promote practice in using the checklists and discussion of research-based reading instruction.
